In July we talked a lot about ‘inclusiveness’. Inclusiveness, in the sense of volunteering, means looking at volunteering programmes and working with organisations to see how their volunteer programmes could be adapted to meet the needs of volunteers who may require it. Volunteers from different cultures, for example, may need some language assistance; volunteers with physical or mental disabilities may require some assistance accessing information and/or flexibility in their roles and times of volunteering. What is important is that organisations reflect the communities which they serve. Does your organisation reflect your community?
