Board members act in a position of trust for the community and are responsible for the effective governance of the organisation. In liaison and cooperation with the regional boards, TLNZ Board members support the work of TLNZ and provide leadership and effective governance of the organisation. While day to day operations are led by the Parent Representatives, Trainers and Administration and Coordination personnel, the TLNZ Board's relationship with the whole organisation is that of a supportive partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities are identified and allocated according to interest, experience and skills of the individual Board members.
Board members are also responsible and accountable to the membership. The way we operate is according to our commitment to be: Collaborative, Honest, Accountable, Respectful, Transparent, Effective, and Reflective.
Board meetings are normally held in Barrington, Christchurch. Sometimes these meetings are via skype for Board members outside of Christchurch.
It is preferable that Board Members have previous experience on Committees or Boards.
We are looking for applicants with some of the following range of skills: IT, Funding, Professional experience with leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the non profit sector. Existing community or business networks.
A commitment to and understanding of TLNZ's families and communities, including referral agencies.
Strong communication and diplomatic skills with the ability to cultivate relationships, influence, and build consensus among divers individuals.
The ability to assist in building teams while being a contributing team member.
A willingness to take on portfolio responsibility as well as collective responsibility of Board decision making.
Personal integrity, and a genuine commitment to the Mission and Purpose of Toughlove and the families and communities we serve.
Saturday mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
