Assist literacy tutor with a sewing class for refugee women. Women are improving their English language while learning to sew simple things like oven cloths, aprons, peg bags, cushion covers and the like.
Through this role you will have the satisfaction of helping others. We offer annual training, end of year class party and a volunteer Christmas lunch. There is parking available at Hagley college where the class is held.
Very basic sewing skills, assertiveness (need to be able to say no and not sew for the women but support them to learn to sew), initiative, problem solving skills, cultural sensitivity and interest in women from other cultures. Fully vaccinated.
Tuesday evenings - 3 - 4:30 or 4:30 -6 pm.
