The Pathway Bike Project recognises that people returning to the community following a period of prison incarceration will need to be able to transport themselves to various key appointments and life events. The project seeks to find unwanted bikes that would otherwise go to scrap metal and restore them to eventually been donated to a newly released prisoner. We are seeking a volunteer to support our existing bike mechanic who undertakes these refurbishments and if interested go into the prison to teach youth prisoners how to fix, repair and restore bikes as well.
Lots of knowledge of bikes, their parts and how to repair them.
An interest in prison rehabilitation
Good interpersonal skills
Approx 2 hours a fortnight
