The Hāpai Access Card is a new solution to the accessibility barriers faced by the disabled community. We are charitable business with a view to be able distribute profits to the disabled community by year 4 of our business plan. The card acts as a communication bridge between the business and disabled communities through providing an easy way for a disabled person to show their barriers and the business community to be able to respond to those barriers.
Business are approached to register with the card scheme based on three benefits; increased revenue; meeting legal requirements; impacting the community. Onboarding is a 5 step process:
STEP 1: GET FAMILIAR WITH THE CARD. We engage businesses using the great collateral that we have developed.
STEP2: RESPOND TO THE BARRIERS. We have a work flow tool that a business can use to self-help to look at reducing/eliminating the barriers - with a bit of help at times from us?
STEP 3: DISCOUNT & CONCESSIONS. Here we use our negotiation skills. Discounts are not our priority, but it is good to have the discussion.
STEP 4: REVIEW WITH FACILITATOR. We have a look at what the business has created with the tool and then work with them to refine it.
STEP 5:THE OUTPUTS. At the end of this process there is a webpage, a cheat sheet, and a start up pack for the business.

We love helping the disabled community, we respect people in business - we are a business too - and believe what we do is making a difference.
