A Tutor assistant is needed to help either one Chinese student or with the class assisting them with English language classes in Edgeware. Volunteers are needed to support a tutor in ESOL classes Volunteers will work one on one with a Chinese learner who needs extra assistance. or work with the whole class. They will be assisting with class activities under the guidance of the tutor. Generally learners are encouraged not to speak Mandarin in class, but interpretation is needed at times to help learners understand the tutor's instructions. Volunteers need to be able to attend at least one allocated session each week during term time. The classes are held in Edgeware There are sessions - Wednesdays 1- 4pm and Friday mornings 8:30am - 112:30pm. You could choose which session or do both if you are available.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to support the learners to improve their skills. Annual volunteer training session and end of year volunteer lunch. Free parking at venue. Satisfaction of helping others.

Mandarin language, reasonably good English language and interpretation skills, supportive, patient, able to use initiative, assertive, some teaching skills would be an advantage but not essential.
