Practical Help

We are looking for one or more volunteers to join our Outreach team to help support a family who live in Lincoln. Mum lives with severe chronic illness that restricts her ability to manage the household chores.

Did you know? People with ME/CFS, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have a reduced level of functionality that means they cannot complete normal activities of daily living. An additional burden is that doing too much physically or mentally can trigger Post-Exertional Malaise – a worsening of symptoms that can last for days or more.

  • tidying and cleaning up after the children
  • washing dishes
  • vacuuming
  • cleaning surfaces, floors and windows
  • washing, drying and folding laundry
  • changing bed linen
  • preparing food

Specific tasks to be discussed and agreed between volunteer and client. Volunteers are free to indicate what they are willing to do and what they are not.

We are able to cover travel costs if required, including bus fee or car travel at the IRD Tier 2 rate per km (currently 31 cents per km).

Requirements:
  • Non-judgmental
