As Volunteer Digital Marketing Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the visibility of Ngaio Marsh House and Heritage Trust across our digital platforms. Your contributions will help attract volunteers, engage stakeholders, and encourage potential visitors through strategic online outreach.
Key tasks & responsibilities:
You will be responsible for managing and enhancing our online presence, with specific duties including:
• Website Management: Oversee and update the Trust’s website) to ensure it is current and engaging.
• Newsletter Creation: Write and distribute our quarterly email newsletter to inform and connect with our audience.
• Social Media Oversight: Manage the Trust’s Facebook page and other social media channels, including content creation and publishing.
• Digital Advertising: Develop and implement digital advertising strategies to promote tours and events, utilizing platforms such as Facebook and others as needed.
• Online Listings Maintenance: Keep online listings (e.g., New Zealand.com, Christchurch NZ, Trip Advisor, Google) up to date with accurate information.
You will provide regular updates on your progress to the Board, which meets monthly.
Reporting:
The Volunteer Digital Marketing Assistant will report to the Ngaio Marsh House Trustee responsible for marketing.
Training and support:
Training will be provided so that the Volunteer Digital Marketing Assistant feels confident in the role, and knowledgeable about working with Ngaio Marsh House and Heritage Trust.
Support from the Board will be provided to help you deal with any challenging situations.
Measures of success:
Your performance will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Timely updates of the website and social media platforms.
• Measurable growth in online reach (e.g., increases in newsletter sign-ups, website visits, and social media followers).
• Successful execution of social media advertising campaigns leading to increased tour bookings and other agreed outcomes.
• Prompt and effective responses to social media communications.

We are looking for a personable individual with a positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. You should be organized, punctual, and capable of both following direction and working independently with a diverse group of volunteers.
This role is likely to suit someone with an interest in one or more of these areas: writing and literature, theatre, art, gardening and heritage.

Experience and knowledge:
Previous experience in a business environment is required, along with strong written and digital marketing skills. Experience with social media advertising and analytics, demonstrating measurable results, is essential.
Desirable but not essential:
• Familiarity with website SEO optimisation.
• Basic graphic design skills, ideally using Canva.
• Experience in video and photo editing.
Time commitment:
The minimum commitment required is 4 hours per week for one year. Initially, additional hours may be required to set up processes and systems.
Location of position:
This role will be performed remotely, with attendance at the monthly Board meeting and events if required.
