“Since arriving in New Zealand in July, volunteering has become one of the most meaningful and enjoyable parts of my life. In August, I hoped to gain local teaching experience and build real connections with the community, so I began volunteering at the Hagley Learning Centre as a teacher assistant to support the Rowley Community Centre. It gave me my very first chance to understand how learning is encouraged here, how teachers support diverse learners, and how warm and open the local community can be.
In September, I further joined GirlGuiding NZ as a volunteer. Working with girls from different backgrounds has been both inspiring and fulfilling. I learned how to guide activities, support their growth, and create a positive, encouraging environment. Every session taught me something new—about leadership, communication, and the importance of patience and empathy.
Both volunteering experiences have been truly wonderful. They deepened my understanding of teaching, strengthened my confidence, and further inspired my passion for pursuing a master’s degree in teaching. They also influenced my personal life—especially in how I communicate, play, and learn together with my son. Volunteering has not only connected me with local people but also given me a clearer vision of the educator I hope to become.”
