Knit for Purpose 2026 has been another incredible community effort!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Knit in Public Day on 13 June. Despite the chilly Christchurch morning, it was wonderful to see so many volunteers knitting together, sharing stories, and creating colourful squares one stitch at a time.
Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our amazing volunteers, we’ve so far received 2,674 knitted squares, which have been sewn into 78 beautiful blankets – with even more still to come! If you can lend a hand sewing together the remaining squares, we’d love to hear from you.
Blanket deliveries are now underway, with seven community organisations already receiving cosy bundles, and more deliveries planned over the coming weeks.
Ngā mihi nui to everyone who has contributed their time, creativity, and aroha to Knit for Purpose. Your mahi is bringing warmth and comfort to people across our community.
