Op Shops provide a real benefit to the community. Donating used goods for recycling means there's less going to landfil; organisations use the funds raised from sales to further their causes; and volunteers engage with their community, learn real-life skills and have fun!
Please note: whilst all care has been taken in compiling this map, we acknowledge there may be inaccuracies. We welcome any corrections to be sent to us via email.
If you have goods that are broken, dirty, have missing parts, are not working or are not suitable to donate to your local charity shop you can take them to your nearest transfer station or resource recovery park. Please remember if donated goods are not in a saleable condition the charity has to pay to dispose of them. We have compiled a list of Transfer Stations and Resource Recovery Parks in Christchurch and upper Canterbury for this purpose.
Brought to you by Volunteering Canterbury and Volunteering Mid-South Canterbury, with many thanks to Dr Donald Matheson, University of Canterbury, and Connor Venmore, Volunteering Mid & South Canterbury, for their considerable efforts in turning this idea into a reality.
