Volunteering has always been the backbone of the organisation, beginning with the first ambulance brigade in Christchurch in the 1800s and continuing today. Our team of over 8,000 volunteers work side by side with staff in a range of roles across medical services and ambulance crews, Hato Hone St John Youth groups, caring community support and behind the scenes too.
