This year, on Micro-Volunteering Day, we are launching a brand new project - We've Got You Covered Canterbury, in collaboration with our colleages at Volunteering Mid-South Canterbury.
What is Micro-Volunteering? Microvolunteering is bite-sized, on-demand, no commitment actions that benefit a worthy cause. It is something you can do from anywhere, it can take as little as five minutes, and there is no sign up process!
Why ‘Knit for Purpose’? This year, we invite you to try Micro-Volunteering by knitting peggy squares (15cm x 15cm) for blankets which will be donated to those in need in our community through local organisations.
How to get Involved:
When can you micro-volunteer? Knit while watching TV, on the bus, during your lunch break .. this is a project for the young and young at heart, the knitting newbies and the seasoned pros. Knit on your own, teach your whanau, get your craft group involved … everyone is welcome.
How long is this project running for? We will wrap up this project on World Wide Knit in Public Day – 10 June. Prior to that date, completed squares can be dropped off to Christchurch Community House during normal business hours. We also invite you to join us from 1-3pm on Saturday 10 June 2023 at Christchurch Community House, 213 Lichfield Street, to drop off your knitting, keep knitting, start sewing … or simply to say ‘hi’ and share a cuppa! Find all the details for this occasion on our Events page or our Facebook page.
