Christchurch Men's Prison is looking for a tutor or keen music enthusiast to teach guitar to a small group of men in our care.
Having a connection with music can support our men's health and well-being, creativity, motor skills, stress management whilst having fun. Assisting the men to learn a new skill that will change their future.
The Department of Corrections has a policy to make a contribution towards the volunteer transport costs up to a set amount each financial year.
Teaching experience in guitar or a passion for playing the guitar and able to teach.
Keen to volunteer and gain experience tutoring inside a prison environment.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
At least one hour per week. Able to facilitate a session during school term times between Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 3:30pm or Friday morning 9:00am to 12:00pm
Able to attend a Site and H&S induction on a Tuesday or Thursday morning 9:50 to 11:15am
A minimum commitment of six months.
There are no volunteering opportunities outside of these hours or during the weekend.
