Contributing to and working in Community Gardens in Sumner

  1. The Sumner Community Garden based at Van Asch College. This meets Tuesdays morning for about 3 hours. We are looking for people who can assist with general gardening duties and enjoy good company and rowing produce.

  2. Sumner Heritage Orchard (He Whenua). Here we need people willing to assist and learn about pruning and managing young trees. Can also assist with workshops.

  3. Richmond Hill Berry Garden meets Thursdays from 5 pm to 7pm every second week. Volunteers are wanted to assist with the work here.

Requirements:

Must be able to bend down and garden at ground level and work with people of all ages and backgrounds.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

2 to 3 hous per week when available.
