Mana Tipua’s purpose is to tautoko (support) the hauora (health) and mana of rangatahi takatāpui (Māori young people in the LGBTQIA+ /SOGIESC communities) and their whānau, within Aotearoa, and to enable them to flourish in the fullness of their identity. We seek to improve wellbeing outcomes by providing opportunities for rangatahi to engage in mātauranga and tikanga Māori and taonga tuku iho practices. We provide social connection opportunities, informal education, and assist with health and wellbeing pathways. We also work to advocate, educate, develop takatāpui focussed resources, and foster collaborative opportunities.
The role
Mana Tipua is looking for Whakaaturanga o te Kaitiaki moni - a Treasurer to oversee the Finances of the Trust alongside other members of the board. This role is unpaid. Mana Tipua Kaimahi manage the day to day bookkeeping and reconciliation. The Treasurer role is one of tautoko and oversight.
The role will include:
Supporting the kaimahi in preparing the operating budget for approval by the Board, and re-forecasting the remainder of the year with relation to grants, funding and donations
Approving payments and managing banking relationship as required.
Ensuring that sufficient funds are available at all times to support the organisation’s liabilities.
Preparing financial reports for the board, authorising payments and supporting Payroll.
Working with kaimahi to ensure the organisation meets its compliance with end of year charities reporting
You will use your skills to advise and guide financial decisions for the Trust that will enable its longevity. From time to time the treasurer may be called upon to assist in funding applications and reporting.

Along with your treasurer role you will be an active board member guiding a new organisation in long term strategic planning. As a kaupapa Māori organisation that supports takatāpui, we are seeking someone who is part of our community to engage in this mahi. our trust deed outlines that:
Board will comprise a simple majority of takatāpui members;
Remaining positions are prioritised for Māori;
Tauiwi allies are welcome based on whānau principles up to one third (1⁄3) of the Board
Accountant (preferred) or Strong bookkeeping / business management experience Familiarity and experience with Xero preferred
Understanding of tikanga me matauranga Māori
Strong community connections and links to business and associate organisations along with the ability to network
Desirable:
Experience in business development
Knowledge or previous experience with a not for profit, business, or charitable trust
Roughly 4 hours/month
The board meets 6-8 times per year, approx 2 hours per meeting. Additional 2-4 hours / month financial oversight depending on time of year/ financial requirements.
