This role is to enable an older woman to continue to access exercise classes once or twice a week. She requires assistance to get out of the taxi and into the BrainTree facility, support during the class, and assistance to get to the toilet when required. Afterwards she stays for a coffee and chat with the group and then needs to access the taxi again. She has Multiple Sclerosis and has difficulty moving at any pace.
This role is most suitable for a female due to the potential need to access the bathroom area with the client.
The person volunteering would need to be physically able and enjoy the company of older adults.
We do not offer training on how to assist safely so if you have knowledge of this that would be great.
Exercise classes are on Monday and Thursday at 10.30am for 50mins. You would need to be here at 10.15 and stay until approx midday.
If we can find the right person there is also a request to attend a support group meeting once a month on a Wednesday at 10.30 - 12pm
