You will be supporting a group of 5 young people with intellectual disabilities to learn valuable life skills through an 8-week educational course called 'Hauora On the Move'. This group is led by a Recreate NZ facilitator - your role is to encourage participation, provide support, and be a positive role model for our young people as they develop healthy life skills throughout the course. This group get out into the community and learn about Hauora - a model of wellbeing - try different low-impact activities each week such as walking, dancing, and yoga. This course encourages our young people to think about different ways to move, look after your body and to make other healthy life choices.
This volunteer role supports healthy wellbeing, quality education and inclusion (United Nations SDGs 3 & 4)
Punctuality and enthusiasm! No experience needed.
We meet at our youth space in Papanui at 9am, and drive a van to our activity locations, so you must be able to meet us in Papanui.
Day: Tuesdays (every week 18th Feb - 8th April)
Time: 9am-3.30pm
This programme runs for 8-weeks during each school term. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to the full term, however, if you can't commit to 8-weeks but are interested, please get in touch as we can work out a joint role.
