We are looking for someone with a passion for simple yet rewarding service to pick up our clients and take them to a fortnightly group at Turanga Library. We need someone who is non-judgemental, who sees the best in people, and is committed to helping people turn their lives around.
Our clients are ex-prisoners (we call them Tu Ora - to stand in a place of wellness) who are reintegrating into the community. They are supported by Pathway staff and by community volunteers, with the Community Writers Group providing essential pro-social opportunities that are a vital part of this mahi.
You will be driving our Van, so this suits someone who is comfortable driving a larger vehicle and has the capacity to take a few hours out of a Thursday evening fortnightly.
The group takes place on Thursday nights at 6:30-7:30pm and clients would require a ride to and from the group, so it would be reasonable to see the volunteering time as 3 hours a night. If we have multiple applications we would be happy to create a roster so that you were on once a month, or every six weeks.
Pathway Trust is a Christian organisation, we do not expect our volunteers to be Christian but they are encouraged to share the mutual values of love, forgiveness, and acceptance.
A current clean drivers licence is required.
