Cats and kittens in our care come from various backgrounds - some are friendly and healthy, while others are stray, abandoned or neglected. Most range in age from four to 10 weeks, though we take in felines of all ages.
As a Cat & Kitten Courier, you’ll play a crucial role in the rescue and rehoming process by safely transporting cats and kittens to our volunteers in Amberley and Rangiora. In some cases, you may also act as a temporary drop-off point, holding cats or kittens for up to 48 hours (e.g. if dropped off on a weekend). Cat Care will provide carriers for transportation and a crate for safe and comfortable short-term housing, if required.
These trips help connect rescued felines with veterinary care, foster homes and adoption opportunities.
Your primary responsibilities will include: - Safely driving rescued felines from locations across Hurunui and Waimakariri to Amberley and Rangiora - Making sure carriers are secure and that cats are calm and safe during travel - Communicating about pick-up and drop-off times, locations and any special needs of the animals in your care.
Flexible. While summer - kitten season - is our busiest time of the year, transport needs are often ad-hoc and can vary from several times a month to occasional urgent requests. We will contact you as and when the need arises.
