The Gig
Help us shout about our September fundraising event (think crime-fiction carnival meets heritage open day). We’ve got eight weeks to pack the house, boost donations, and crank up community love.
You will:
• Draft & drive a punchy comms plan—objectives, channels, timelines, KPIs.
• Create scroll-stopping content (social posts, reels, e-news, press releases, flyers).
• Own the socials—Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, maybe TikTok if you reckon it’ll pop.
• Spark engagement—polls, giveaways, live Q&As, perhaps a cheeky “solve-the-murder” teaser.
• Pitch media & partners—local news/radio, book clubs, libraries, theatre groups, influencers.
• Track & tweak—pull insights, pivot fast, deliver a tidy wrap-up report.
You Bring
• 2+ years comms/marketing chops (agency, brand, or non-profit).
• A proven knack for community engagement—you don’t just count likes; you ignite conversation.
• Social-media swagger—comfortable scheduling, hashtagging, trending, and analysing.
• Initiative & pace—a self-starting go-getter who doesn’t need hand-holding.
• Bonus points for non-profit or arts/heritage wins in your portfolio.
Time & Place
• Duration: Mid-July → late September (approx. 6-8hrs/week, flexible).
• Location: Mostly remote; occasional drop-ins to the house for content captures or meetings if you’re local.
What’s In It for You
• A high-impact case study with real metrics for your portfolio.
• Networking with trustees, arts pros, and media folk.
• That warm-fuzzy “I gave back” feeling—and a glowing reference to match.
• Free bragging rights: “I marketed a fundraiser for one of the world’s greatest crime writers.”
About Ngaio Marsh & the Trust
Dame Ngaio Marsh (1895–1982) is one of the four original “Queens of Crime,” author of 32 Inspector Alleyn mysteries, Edgar Allan Poe Award winner, and a theatre director who brought Shakespeare to life from London’s West End to Christchurch.
The Ngaio Marsh House & Heritage Trust preserves her Cashmere hillside home—still furnished just as she left it—and shares her legacy in literature, theatre, and the arts. Our vision: keep the house alive as a creative hub, inspire new storytellers, and spark fresh curiosity in Ngaio’s world.
