Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre fills an entire city block of stunning heritage buildings in central Ōtautahi Christchurch, buzzing with a vibrant array of arts organisations, events, museums, galleries and boutique retailers. The independent charitable trust has now restored and reopened most of its heritage buildings after the 2010/11 earthquakes.
We are seeking keen volunteers to guide small groups around the site, showing behind-the-scenes spaces such as the dome of the Observatory Tower, and sharing in-depth knowledge about The Arts Centre's history and culture.
All informative material will be provided in your training.
The full site tour involves several staircases, which would be a regular part of the job. However, the tour can be adjusted to be fully accessible, so please do apply if you are excited to give accessible tours!
Tours are scheduled every Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 12.30pm.
Guides should be available for 2 hours (tour plus check-in/-out), at least twice a month, plus 2-4 training sessions a year.
Minimum commitment of 6 months.
