We're looking for an experienced Treasurer to join our board and help us support a safer, more connected neighbourhood.
In this vital volunteer role, you’ll work closely with our accountants, Community Capacity Accounting, to oversee the financial health of our organisation. You’ll help shape our budgeting, planning, and risk management strategies, and ensure the board receives clear, accurate financial reporting.
Your financial guidance will help steer our organisation toward growth and long-term sustainability. As Treasurer, you'll also serve as a key liaison between the board chair, the wider board, our accountants and the organisation’s manager on all financial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain oversight of financial records and reporting
• Prepare budgets and monitor financial performance
• Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Present financial updates at board meetings
•Collaborate with our accountants on annual financials
• Contribute to the development and review of financial policies
Ideal Candidate:
• Has accounting, or extensive bookkeeping experience
• Is a competent user of Xero
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of integrity
• Able to communicate financial information clearly
• Committed to the mission and values of our organisation
• Familiarity with NFP financial practices and reporting a bonus
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Approximately 4 - 6 hours/month
Board meetings are held on a Thursday, from 4.00pm – 6.00pm, every 2 months. It is expected that an additional 2-4 hours / month will be required financial oversight depending on time of year/ financial requirements.
