About Ferrymead Heritage Trust
Ferrymead Heritage Trust is the guardian of Ferrymead Heritage Park, one of New Zealand’s most significant living museums, which has been in operation for over 60 years. The Trust is dedicated to preserving and celebrating Canterbury and New Zealand’s social, industrial, and transport history. The Trust is supported by Ferrymead Park Ltd (FPL), the company who is responsible for running the Park on a day-to-day basis. We are seeking enthusiastic and skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors for FPL to help guide Ferrymead Heritage Park into its next chapter.

Requirements:

We are looking for Trustees and/or Directors with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Governance: Experience in the not-for-profit sector, or commercial governance, strategic planning, and risk management.
  • Marketing: Skills in brand development, digital marketing, community engagement, or fundraising.
  • Accounting: Financial oversight, budgeting and reporting experience, preferably with charitable or not-for-profit organizations.
  • Business Development: skills in development, business growth, funding applications or relationship and partnership building
  • Appreciation for Te Ao Māori and experience in cultural and heritage leadership.
  • Commitment to the values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga and tikanga,

Ideal candidates will:

  • Demonstrate commitment to heritage, community, and volunteerism.
  • Bring fresh perspectives and networks to support the Heritage Park’s growth.
  • Be collaborative, strategic thinkers with strong communication skills.
Time commitment:

Trustees and Directors are expected to contribute approximately four hours per month, including attendance at board meetings and participation in relevant subcommittees or projects.
