Our neurological choir meets every Wednesday morning during school terms in a Central city location. We are looking for friendly volunteers willing to set up the room with tables and chairs, prepare and serve morning team food and drinks as well as help with tidying and packing up afterwards. There is some flexibility if you preferred to attend fortnightly or have other commitments some weeks.
You will work alongside the other volunteers and contracted therapists who lead the choir. Our team will provide the food and give training to allow you to get to know the space and people.
We have 6 sessions left this year with our Christmas concert being our last session on the 3 December. We will start back for the 2026 Term 1 sessions from the last week in January 2026.
To find our more about our choir and the therapy offered check out our website www.cantabrainers.nz
What is a neurological choir?
A neurological choir is a therapeutic choir for people with a condition such as stroke, Parkinsons, MS or a brain injury. The choir is led by a registered music therapist and a speech language therapist and aims to maintain and improve communication through the physical act of singing, as well as the social interaction and connection that comes with singing in a group.
Wednesday morning 9.30am - 12pm (2-3 hours per week)
We aim to recruit enough volunteers that you don't have to attend each week if you have other commitments or would prefer fortnightly.
