Programme Assistant – Toitū Tōtaranui

Organisation:
Untouched World Foundation
Location:
All Areas
Category:
Practical Help
Hours:
Both/Flexible

Do you love being hands-on, organised, and part of a team making real change for the environment?

We’re looking for volunteer Programme Assistants to support Toitū Tōtaranui, our newest leadership programme for environmentally-conscious rangatahi launching in 2026.

This is a practical, behind-the-scenes role where your support helps young leaders take action for Aotearoa’s biodiversity.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work closely with our Programmes Coordinator to help prepare, run, and pack down the programme. Tasks include:

  • Helping with food shopping
  • Loading the trailer on the first morning of the programme
  • Unpacking, cleaning, airing, and repacking tents after use
  • Updating storage inventories so everything is ready for the next programme

What you'll get out of it

By volunteering with us, you’ll:

  • Be part of a real-world conservation and leadership programme
  • Gain practical experience in programme delivery and logistics
  • Work alongside people passionate about environmental sustainability
  • Contribute directly to the growth of rangatahi leaders and thriving ecosystems

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you. Join us and help support the next generation of changemakers!

What we’re looking for

You don’t need prior experience — just a willingness to pitch in and learn.

This role could be a great fit for you if you:

  • Are physically fit (there may be some heavy lifting)
  • Have good attention to detail and like keeping things organised
  • Bring a positive, can-do attitude to teamwork
Time commitment:

Up to 8 hours per week during pre- and post-programme phases. The key upcoming dates for the next programme are:

  • Sunday 18 January (flexible timings)
  • Monday 19 January (early morning)
  • Sunday 25 January (late afternoon / early evening)

This can be a one-off commitment based around the delivery of our Toitū Tōtaranui programme in January 2026, or it can be a regular (but flexible commitment) with busier periods around programme delivery.

This role is based in Ōtautahi with most of the work taking place at one of 2 locations:

  • Our office in Avonside
  • Our storage unit in Harewood

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
