General gardening duties at the YWCA. YWCA offer Emergency & transitional housing for women & children - we have beautiful gardens that need some TLC.
The YWCA offer Emergency & Transitional accommodation for women & women with children in Christchurch. Our vision is a Christchurch in which all women and children are safe, empowered and happy.
Part of achieving this vision is ensuring we have a safe and welcoming facility for the residents that stay with us. Onsite we have garden areas both around the units and also within our onsite playground. We would love a friendly community member to help us out with keeping these gardens weed free and full of life for everyone to enjoy! And as an added bonus, you might be able to share some gardening skills with the residents and get a helping hand!
We would love someone every week but please get in touch with your availability and we may be able to work a roster. Materials & equipment needed will be provided by YWCA staff.
General duties will include:
•General garden maintenance – weeding, re-planting pots/ small flowers, mulching, watering plants, raking
•General Pruning - trimming back of trees around property, pruning trees & hedges - using hedge clippers
•Plant & Transplant – flowers, trees.
We very much appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide, however, we are only able to facilitate volunteers Mon-Fri 9-5pm so please bare that in mind when considering your availability. Thank you for considering us at YWCA :)
