Floorball is a fast pace indoor hockey played with lightweight sticks and a hollow plastic ball in a rink. We are establishing the sport of Floorball with the Youth of Selwyn by running weekly sessions at the new Selwyn Sports Centre, this has been popular and we need some additional coaching support to help us manage the kids as they learn the game of Floorball. Our focus on partipation over competition, so we like the kids to have a good positive experience with sport without the need to feel like they have to be the top player or must win every game. We believe the children should be open to trying a variety of sports and encourage them to explore their options. In future this will include some colloborative sporting opportunities with other sports to offer kids that variety. So at present we need assistance on a Monday night but there may be more opportunities as we progress. You can have a look at our website for a little more about us www.canterburyfloorball.org.nz

Requirements:

Some coaching experience would be ideal, we will teach you the game and how to coach floorball. If you are sporty and want to work with Youth then this could be a good opportunity to gain some experience under the guidance of our Floorball Coaching team.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

1 - 3hr - flexible.
