Mandarin Speaking Tutor assistant in Wigram - Wednesday mornings

Tutor assistant is urgently needed to help Chinese students with English language classes in Wigram - Wednesday mornings
Volunteers are needed to support tutors in ESOL classes Volunteers will work one on one with Chinese learners or in small groups assisting them with class activities under the guidance of the tutor. Generally learners are encouraged not to speak Mandarin in class, but interpretation is needed at times to help learners understand the tutor's instructions. Volunteers need to be able to attend their allocated session each week during term time. The classes are held in Wigram.
The rewards of this role include working with a wide range of people, contributing to the community and participating in a learning environment. We offer free parking, annual training session, orientation, Christmas lunch for volunteers.

Requirements:

Mandarin language, reasonably good English language and interpretation skills, supportive, patient, able to use initiative, assertive, some teaching skills would be an advantage but not essential.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

At least one session per week for the term: Wednesday mornings
