For more than 30 years, the Campaign Against Foreign Control of Aotearoa (CAFCA) has devoted attention to the Overseas Investment Office (OIO), the Government oversight body for foreign investment applicants. We have used our own volunteers until now but now seek someone new. Job involves CAFCA sending the volunteer the OIO's monthly Decisions (approvals/rejections) https://www.linz.govt.nz/overseas-investment/latest/latest-decisions Volunteer writes up and analyses those Decisions, plus cross-references them to others involving the same applicant/company/land (done via CAFCA Website) That is then uploaded to CAFCA Website . Plus, three issues "Foreign Control Watchdog" are published per year, with four months of OIO Decisions written up for each issue. Deadlines: March 1, July 1 and November 1.
Access to Internet. Ability to work unsupervised. Ability to research, write and analyse. What the OIO provides are summaries of the Decision, not the full file. So the write up has to be researched and fleshed out from other sources. Ability to meet regular deadlines.
One of CAFCA's own former volunteers told our Committee that, each time he came to write up four months worth of OIO Decisions for an issue of "Foreign Control Watchdog", it took him the equivalent of one 40 hour week. "Watchdog" is published three times per year. If the Decisions were written up as they were received - once a month - that time commitment could be managed.
