Provide social support to an older person via regular visits of about an hour per week, share interest and activities and provide support where possible to make other community contacts. Many older people in our community are lonely and isolated as they receive few or no visitors. Age Concern Canterbury's Visiting Service helps reduce this loneliness by providing friendship and companionship through a volunteer visitor, enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of the older person.
Warm, friendly and enjoy a good chat. Keen to spend time with an older person. Ready to be part of a team and experience ongoing support and training. Respectful of confidentiality and of other cultures and ways of doing things. Must hold New Zealand residency or citizenship.
