Volunteer Opportunities

Gardener

Organisation:
Christchurch Community House
Location:
Central
Category:
Gardening
Hours:
Both/Flexible

Christchurch Community House is on the lookout for a volunteer gardener to help care for and maintain our edible and plant gardens.
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has knowledge of planting, harvesting, and seasonal care (especially companion planting would be a bonus!),
  • Can dedicate a few hours a week to weeding, planting, pruning, and general garden upkeep
  • Would love to "adopt" our garden spaces as their own, taking pride and ownership in keeping them thriving and beautiful,
  • Brings a positive attitude and a passion for sustainable, community-focused gardening.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a vibrant community hub, make a tangible impact, and enjoy spending time outdoors in a supportive environment.

If this sounds like you (or someone you know!), please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you!

Requirements:

Knowledge of edible gardens and ability to commit - we would love a minimum commitment of three months!

Time commitment:

We think a commitment of two hours per week would be ideal - and are flexible as to when that is, though you may like to plan for a Wednesday morning and join us at our weekly House morning tea!

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
