As a community ambassador, you will represent Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust in your community and help promote our free reading and writing services in your area. Your role will involve building and maintaining relationships with other local organisations, businesses and individuals. You'll distribute posters, leaflets, and student contact cards, attending community network meetings, events, and expos, and advocate for our services to reach those in need. This flexible role requires bi-weekly check-ins with the Community Coordinator to report your progress and seek support or ideas. You'll also join a community of Regional Ambassadors who share their experiences and support one another via our Slack platform.
Note: Applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply. An individual who is sociable, possesses excellent communication abilities, and derives pleasure from conversing with others. They should possess some level of awareness and compassion for the struggle of illiterate individuals and the transformative power of literacy. Additionally, they should be proactive, self-directed, and a creative thinker. It's important that they have a deep passion for their community and its people. Able to communicate and feedback to the Community Coordinator
Up to 4 hours a month (hours not fixed).
This volunteer role offers flexibility but is more suited to a long term commitment and therefore not suitable for people who are looking for employment. However, we do have various short term roles available.
