Volunteer Opportunities

Angels in Aprons – Join Our Housekeeping Volunteer Team at Rānui House & Rānui Apartments!

Organisation:
Bone Marrow Cancer Trust
Location:
Central
Category:
Health & Medical
Hours:
Both/Flexible

Be Part of Something Special
We’re looking for kind-hearted, positive, and energetic volunteers to lend a hand alongside our amazing Housekeeping team. Whether it’s fluffing pillows, folding laundry, or adding that extra sparkle to a family’s room, your time and effort will make a real difference to people going through challenging times.
At Rānui, no two days are the same! One day, you might be helping in the laundry; the next, you could be perfecting your hospital corners or ensuring our shared spaces are fresh and welcoming. It’s all about variety, teamwork, and knowing that your efforts help bring comfort to families when they need it most.

We’d love to welcome volunteers who:
Have a warm, friendly nature and enjoy working in a team
Can roll up their sleeves and bring a can-do attitude
Love a tidy, well-organised space (and maybe even find joy in vacuuming!)
Have a great sense of humour and a heart for helping others
Our volunteers connect with families, sour team and each other - so if you’re someone who loves people and making a difference, this is the perfect role for you!

What You’ll Be Doing:
Helping in the laundry - loading, unloading, and folding
Restocking housekeeping trolleys
Keeping rooms fresh, clean and welcoming
Vacuuming and tidying public areas
Sanitising the House to keep families safe
Stocking up family pantries

Requirements:

Before joining our volunteer team, we’ll guide you through a simple onboarding process:
Application form & reference checks
Criminal history check & volunteer agreement
A warm welcome & orientation with our CEO and House Manager
A full site tour, introduction to our team, and your very own Volunteer Handbook

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Flexible Commitment – Fit Volunteering into Your Schedule:

Ideally, we’d love volunteers for 3-hour shifts, but we’re super flexible! Whether it’s once a week or more or less, we welcome help 7 days a week - whatever works for you.

Ready to Make a Difference? Join our Angels in Aprons and help create a home full of warmth, care, and kindness. We’d love to have you on board!

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
