We have found that adults with low Literacy skills struggle through their working and personal life. To successfully improve their reading and writing, they need personalised coaching and non judgmental support. An adult student in Rangiora is requiring a face to face coach to help them.
So, as a Literacy Coach, you will help the learner practice reading, writing, and spelling weekly, generally for an half hour to an hour either once or twice a week.
We provide the training required to be able to coach students and create a personalised learning plan. You work together to develop goals and select materials and activities to help learners reach their goals. This role is very important, and by doing it, you can change an adult or teenager learner's life and that of their family. You will be helping rural students/adult workers who are otherwise isolated learners to better their lives.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity, you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainability Goals Goal 10 - Reduced inequalities
