There is no experience needed, but we need reliable volunteers and previous experience working with youth is an advantage.
You will be given FREE leadership training, mentoring, and all uniform is provided. There is no personal cost to you to volunteer

Requirements:

As a volunteer you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Helping plan the term's activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening / weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader / planning meetings, and trips or camps

GirlGuiding New Zealand 's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult to child ratios, so we do require that you are older than 18.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We require a minimum six month commitment.
Unit times/days vary but you can expect spend 2-4 hours a week between planning and running the units.
You can choose from several units needing leaders for the days/times that work best for you. Units we are currently recruiting for are:

  • Burwood Brownies - Located in New Brighton, Christchurch. Meets on Thursday's between 6:15 - 7:30pm once a week during school term time
  • 1st Cracroft Rangers - Located in Cashmere, Christchurch. Meets on Wednesday's between 7 - 9pm once a week during school term time
  • Rapaki Pippins - Located in Opawa, Christchurch. Meets on Tuesday's between 4 - 5pm once a week during school term time
  • 1st Halswell Pippins - Located in Halswell, Christchurch. Meets on Tuesday's between 4 - 5pm once a week during school term time
  • Hyde Park Brownies - Located in Avonhead, Christchurch. Meets on Wednesday's between 6 - 7:30pm once a week during school term time
    *Thorrington Guides - Located in Cashmere, Christchurch. Meet on Tuesday between 6.30 - 8.30pm once a week during school term time
