There is no experience needed, but we need reliable volunteers and previous experience working with youth is an advantage.
You will be given FREE leadership training, mentoring, and all uniform is provided. There is no personal cost to you to volunteer.

Requirements:

As a volunteer you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Helping plan the term's activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening / weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader / planning meetings, and trips or camps

GirlGuiding New Zealand 's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult to child ratios, so we do require that you are older than 18.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Between Unit Meetings and Planning you would need to be comfortable with Volunteering between 2-4 hours per week with a minimum six month commitment.

We are recruiting for several units so you can choose the one that works best with the days/times you are available. The units needing leaders currently are:
1st Rangiora Brownies - Located in Rangiora, meets on Thursday's between 4 - 5:30pm during school term time
1st Rangiora Guides - Located in Rangiora, meets on Thursday's between 6 - 7:30pm during school term time
*Kaiapoi Brownies - Located in Kaiapoi, meets on Thursday's between 6 - 7:30pm during school term time
