There is no experience needed, but we need reliable volunteers and previous experience working with youth is an advantage.
You will be given FREE leadership training, mentoring, and all uniform is provided. There is no personal cost to you to volunteer

Requirements:

As a volunteer you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Helping plan the term's activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening / weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader / planning meetings, and trips or camps

GirlGuiding New Zealand 's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult to child ratios, so we do require that you are older than 18.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

There are several units in Lincoln needing Leaders so you can choose one that suits your availability best. The units we are currently recruiting for are:

  • Lincoln Pippins - Meets on Wednesday's between 4 - 5pm during school term time
  • Lincoln Guides - Meets on Tuesday's between 6 - 7:45pm during school term time
  • Lincoln Rangers - Meets on Tuesday's between 6 - 8pm during school term time
  • Lincoln Brownies - Meets on Wednesday's between 5:30 - 7pm during school term time
  • Waihora Brownies - Meets on Tuesday's between 4:10 - 5:40pm during school term time

There are the occasional events or camp held on a weekend but on average you can expect to spend between 2-4 hours per week volunteering with us.
We do require a minimum of a six month commitment.
