Volunteer Opportunities

Partner Relationship Manager

Organisation:
Hapai Foundation
Location:
Wigram
Category:
Marketing & Communications
Hours:
Both/Flexible

The Hāpai Access Card has the potential to change the life of a person with a disability by providing them with the confidence to go out into their community knowing that their are businesses that are committed to providing them with an excellent customer experience. The challenge for some people with a disability is applying for the card as it is usually done online. The role of the Hāpai Access Card Partner Relationship Manager is to manage the relationships we have with the over 40 NGOs we partner with. This will require creating attractive communications, delivering presentations both in person and remotely, and supporting our partners. You will work closely with the card application team who deal daily with the NGOs who have clients applying for the card. You may also arrange events to thank our partner NGOs for their contribution to our success.

Importantly, as we get further into our national rollout of the card you you assist the leadership in planning for local partner support in the cities we activate the card in.

We welcome, and encourage, people to apply who need adjustments to the work enviroment to be their best. In our current team we have staff who are legally blind, neurodiverse, have mobility issues and/or are busy parents who need flexibility.

For those seeking future employment, after 3 months of successful volunteering we will supply a CV to help you get that job you want. We also provide coaching around writing cover letters, CVs and interviewing skills. Most of our current staff started as a volunteer with us, so who knows that could be you. The work will be conducted from our lovely office at Kilmarnock Enterprise in Wigram with views of the Port Hills. There is easy parking onsite, and a bus stop directly outside the building. The office has a small kitchen, with microwave, sandwich toaster and fridge, plus a high-end Nespresso Coffee machine - we supply coffee pods, milk and a variety of teas. There is a lounge area to enjoy a break from the work. We believe in having fun as well as working, plus we look to acknowledge our staff - paid and volunteers - whenever we can. Donuts are a regular feature in the office as is pizza. We love to celebrate success, so when we achieve we party! Ok we either eat someting, or go and do something as a team.

Requirements:

In terms of requirements the first thing to say is that we look where we can to give anyone a chance, so if you haven't got what is listed below, but you are passionate about what we do, open to learn and a good team player then please apply. We commit to giving you an interview so we can explore how you could be a fit.

  1. Computer Skills - you might not know the applications we use, but it would be best if you know your way around a computer. We mainly use Google Workspace - we get in free - but we have MS Licences too for a range of applications.
    1. Communication Skills - this role will require you to to interact with our partner NGOs at various levels so the ability to communicate well - listen, articulate needs and solutions, resolve issues - is essential. We will help develop your skills and the leadership will be available to support you in engaging with the partner NGOs.
    2. Flexible - having been going for coming up to three years we are still really a start-up, so while you will major in the role of Social Media Marketer we may need you to 'man the pumps' sometimes. That is a great skill to develop if you are going to be working for a smaller business.
    3. Team Player - the Co-Leaders can be seen doing the washing up - and not just their dishes - and that is the way we like it. When something needs done we pitch in and do it, whatever our stated job role or seniority.
    4. Passion - what we do makes a difference to people's lives. At the moment about 2,500 people directly and their families, but we want to be like our sister organisation in the UK and take that to a couple hundred thousand. This role is a key part of achieving that as we will need to develop of partnership network as we go further nationwide. So we will need you to be passionate about what we do. Now you may not be at the moment, and that is fine, but at the interview we will give you a quick 'sheep-dip' into what we do and see if your eyes sparkle.
Time commitment:

As a minimum we would like the person in this role to work one day in the office for 5 hours and potentially be available occasionally for meetings at other times.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
