Christchurch Men's Prison is looking for volunteers to support learning for the men in our care, one to one in a supported environment.
Each student has their own learning style and level.
You will be adaptable and supportive of the student's own goals in their learning journey.
The Volunteer Coordinator has teaching resources available for your use.
Support is available from Department of Corrections Education Tutors in identifying student learning goals.
The Department of Corrections has a policy to contribute towards volunteer transport costs, up to a set amount each financial year.
A background in teaching preferred.
Available to attend your first site and safety induction on a Tuesday or Thursday from 10:00 to 11:15 am
Minimum commitment of six months during term time only.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
At least one hour per week during school term times for a minimum of six months.
Available to facilitate a session between hours of 9:00am - 3:30pm Monday to Thursday.
There are no volunteer opportunities outside of the above hours.

Tutoring
