Christchurch Men's Prison is looking for volunteers to support ESOL learning for the men in our care. One to one in a supported environment.

Each student has their own learning style and level.

You will be adaptable and supportive of the student's own goals in their learning journey.

The Volunteer Coordinator has teaching resources available for your use.

Support is available from the Department of Corrections Education Tutors in identifying student learner goals.

The Department of Corrections has a policy to contribute towards volunteer transport costs, up to a set amount each financial year.

Requirements:

ESOL teaching experience required.

Available to attend your first site and safety induction on a Tuesday or Thursday from 10:00 to 11:15am (then two yearly)

Minimum commitment of six months during term time only.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

At least one hour per week during term times for a minimum of six months.

Available to facilitate a session between the hours of 9:00am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday.

There are no volunteering opportunities outside of these hours.
