Christchurch Men's Prison is looking for a volunteer/s to teach the young men in the Youth Unit, skills in art.
An opportunity is available to buddy up with another volunteer to facilitate the class together.
This would be in a small group setting in a supported environment.
You are able to encourage the development of skills for self expression and creativity.
You are able to be adaptable and supportive with a small group of learners.
Materials will be supplied.
The Department of Corrections has a policy to contribute towards volunteer transport costs, up to a set amount each financial year.
Teaching experience in Art, or a passion for Art and able to teach.
Minimum commitment of six months during school term times.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
At least two hours per week or fortnight.
Available to facilitate a session during school term times, Monday to Thursday between the hours of 9:30am to 3:00pm for a minimum of six months.
Flexible to allow for other personal commitments including study and exams for our university students.
There are no volunteering opportunities outside of these hours in the Youth Unit.
