The Trust works to enable people with MS and Parkinson’s to manage their health and live well in the community. The Board is responsible for the running of the Trust, ensuring funds are exclusively used to provide services, support, and information to those with MS and Parkinson’s and their families, whanau, and support networks. The Charity aims to heighten public awareness and provide education to promote a better understanding of MS and Parkinson’s by working with the medical profession and other health service providers.
The Treasurer role includes:
Chairing the Finance subcommittee, which meets at least bi-monthly in preparation for the board meetings
Authorising payments for suppliers and payroll in BNZ IB4B
Supporting the Manager in preparing the operating budget for approval by the Board, and re-forecasting the remainder of the year with relation to grants, funding and donations
Presenting the finance reports to the Board (which are prepared by an external contractor)
Annual review of investment portfolio with our investment advisers, supported by the finance subcommittee
Other items relating to finance where the Manager requires support and guidance.
For the Treasurer role, a financial background would be desirable, but CA/CPA level is not necessary.
Governance knowledge or experience, or interest in developing these skills
Strong community connections and links to business and associate organisations along with the ability to network
Knowledge or previous experience with a not for profit, business, or charitable trust
This role is expected to be no more than five hours per month.
