Are you interested in a fulfilling volunteer opportunity? Consider becoming a Fertility Support Series facilitator with Fertility NZ. In this role, you will play a crucial part in facilitating our Fertility Support Series events to provide invaluable support to couples and individuals dealing with fertility challenges, making a significant difference in their lives.
This role is suitable for people who have completed their fertility journeys (with or without children) and are in a strong position to provide support or relevant study to the volunteer role. The Fertility Support Series is a semi-structured course conducted over three consecutive nights.
The Fertility Support Series is available in Auckland, Christchurch, and online. We aim to host two series in each region and online annually. Two volunteers facilitate each series, and participants often maintain contact and friendship for years, supporting each other through their fertility journeys and beyond. This support offering has successfully helped thousands of people since the early 1980s!

Key duties include:
• Co-facilitate the Fertility Support Series
• Coordinate and organise the Fertility Support Series curriculum with the co-facilitator
• Communicate with attendees before the start of the Fertility Support Series as necessary
• Maintain a positive, empathetic and professional attitude
• Encourage participation and provide focus and guidance for discussions within the group
• Coordinate with the Fertility Support Series Coordinator and have a good working relationship with the National Support Coordinator
• Understand and follow all Fertility NZ’s policies.
Required Skills include:

• Ability to bring people together in a positive, empathetic and nurturing environment
• Lead groups positively and encouragingly and set the tone of the meeting
• Clear and empathetic written and verbal communication style
• Desire to progress Fertility NZ’s mission and support people experiencing the rigours of fertility challenges
• Ability to stay calm when members are stressed or upset
• Have a close working relationship with the National Support Coordinator
• Maintain a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards members.
We are looking for group facilitators to join our volunteer team to ensure the best experience and outcomes for Fertility Support Series participants. The anticipated time commitment for this role is 12-15 hours per series, including preparation, the course itself, and post-course evaluation.
Mileage for transportation to and from the Fertility Support Series will be reimbursed. We offer flexibility in completing onboarding training hours, ongoing training resources, and in-person bi-annual training events, with all travel bookings and arrangements handled by Fertility NZ.
