This role requires someone who understands safe food handling, sorting and storing of donated food items.
This role also includes making food parcels for clients as they arrive and then giving directly to the clients.
It has a cleaning and sanitizing component required in the food sorting spaces before and after sorting food.
Foodbank Support staff also answer the phone, and speak with clients.
This role can be physically demanding, and past paced.
We require someone who is well organised, an open and clear communicator, able to take initiative when times are busy and when times are slower,
contactable by email and/or text, able to commit 4 hours 1 day per week. Due to the nature of the role, we need people who are physically fit and able - as the position requires lifting and moving food and boxes containing food, and can be heavy work sometimes.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
The time commitment we are looking for is individuals who can commit to the same day each week volunteering from 10.00am till 2.00pm.
