At TechMate we are working hard to close the digital divide. That means helping our community members to learn how to use their devices and keep them online and interacting with today's society.
Technology Helpers sit alongside people in our community who are not confident about using their phones, tablets or laptops and answer their questions whilst demonstrating what to do. Our approach is non-threatening and non-judgmental.
Initially accompanied by one of our experienced team members, you will meet wonderful people as we teach them to save contacts on their phones, move files around their desktops, etc. You do not need to be a technical whizz but use devices in your everyday life and be prepared to share your knowledge with others.
This role is predominantly based in the Bromley Community Centre, but our main office is in town which is where our volunteer meetings are held.
Key Qualities:
Patient and a good listener
Able to communicate clearly and without the use of a lot of tech jargon
Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds
Confident with the basics of using devices for essential daily use (online banking, emails, texting)
Join us in creating positive change through technology. Apply now to become a Volunteer Technology Helper at TechMate and help empower our community.
