At TechMate, we are dedicated to ensuring that no one gets left behind in our digital world. We are seeking a friendly volunteer to join our team in helping community members build confidence with their phones, tablets, and laptops.

What You'll Do
We are excited to prepare for the relaunch of Technology Support Drop-In Sessions at 126 on the corner (tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-July).
As a Technology Helper, you will:

Sit alongside individuals who need support with their devices
Patiently answer questions and demonstrate solutions
Help with tasks like saving contacts, organising files, sending emails, or navigating apps
Support people to stay connected in today's digital society

Our approach is always non-threatening and non-judgmental. We meet people where they are and celebrate every small victory.
Location & Schedule

Primary location: 126 on the corner
When: First Wednesday of the month
Occasional visits: Our Christchurch office (with plenty of notice and transportation assistance if needed)

Training & Support:
You will be paired with experienced team members
Regular volunteer meetings at our Christchurch Central office to help improve skills
Ongoing support and development opportunities

Requirements:

Key Qualities We're Looking For:

We're seeking volunteers who have:

Patience and empathy when working with people of all skill levels:
Clear communication skills without the use of tech jargon
Comfort working with people from diverse backgrounds
Confidence with device basics for essential daily use (online banking, emails, texting)
Willingness to share knowledge in a supportive way
Availability on the first Wednesday of each month
