Was giving back to your local community one of your New Year’s resolutions for 2023? Why not join PIPS to volunteer some time supporting vulnerable families and their babies?!

PIPS is a small independent charity helping support families in the Canterbury region for more than 40 years. We offer free, non-judgmental practical and emotional support to families in need.

This role is to help support staff to assist whãnau with their enquiries and practical needs.

PIPS is looking for amazing volunteers who are confident with interacting with whanau and social services, have the ability to follow administrative procedure, have clear communication, and hold the values of confidentiality, boundaries, and ethics.

This role is face to face and involves direct contact with whãnau, some administration and other tasks that will help our centre run smoothly.
Duties may include:
● Collecting whãnau information and data
● Sorting and organising baby and maternity clothing, bedding or nursery items
● Cleaning/sanitising nursery equipment
● Cleaning/sanitising baby car seats/capsules
● Assembling and checking donated nursery equipment ie bouncers or cots
● Keeping the centre clean and tidy ie. vacuuming, wiping down toys and surfaces etc.

As there is in-depth training required for this role. Ideally, we would be looking for a 6 month+ commitment.

Requirements:

Positive, non-judgemental and compassionate attitude.
Ability to follow administrative procedure, have clear communication, and hold the values of confidentiality, boundaries, and ethics.
Reliable and a team player that adds to the welcoming and inclusive environment of PIPS.
Awareness of your own strengths, capabilities and weaknesses.
Effective listening skills and able to follow directions .
A willingness to learn and receive constructive feedback.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

2-5 hours per week or more if mutually agreed
