Our Meals on Wheels service supports older, ill, and disabled people living at home who would otherwise struggle to provide healthy meals for themselves. We need volunteers keen to deliver hot meals and a friendly chat, to people in need across New Zealand. We're looking for friendly volunteer drivers to deliver meals in Linwood and surrounding neighborhoods in Christchurch. Shifts start and end at the meal pick up point near Cowles Stadium. Meal pick up time is 10:50am Mon-Fri. We need eight volunteers each weekday. Petrol vouchers are available after a designated number of routes have been completed (or can be donated back to support the programme). Your tasks are to pick up chilly bins containing meals in your car, deliver meals to people and have a brief chat at the door, return chilly bins to the depot and go home feeling good that you’ve helped someone out today.
Requirements
Min age 18 years. Valid driver's licence. Vehicle with valid registration (rego) and warrant of fitness (WoF). Two character references. We’ll train you in how to carry out the role and you’ll be supported by Red Cross volunteers or staff members.
