We are looking for a volunteer to join our Outreach team to help support a woman who lives in Addington. The client lives with a chronic illness.

Did you know? People with ME/CFS, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have a reduced level of functionality that means they cannot complete normal activities of daily living. An additional burden is that doing too much physically or mentally can trigger Post-Exertional Malaise – a worsening of symptoms that can last for days or more.

Help is needed with getting to appointments. Volunteers are free to indicate what they are willing to do and what they are not. We are able to cover travel costs if required, including bus fee or car travel at the IRD Tier 2 rate per km (currently 31 cents per km).

Requirements:
  • Non-judgmental Reliable Respectful and empathetic Open to guidance and requests from client Willing to take the client on outings eg. a drive to the beach or park

  8. Are you happy to carry out a police check (we ask this of all of our volunteers, due to the nature of this work)?
